Delhi has been great.
But a lot of Delhiites are becoming too bold with their hostility towards black people. It is glaring these days. But I don't blame anyone. Last few days have been reports in the newspapers about Nigerians and their involvement in scams and whatnot. I do find it appalling that nothing positive is ever reported about Nigeria in the Indian media at all. I will not blame the Nigerians, either, because they get to meet more of the sly and greedy Indians who want more of what life can offer them and slump into these kinds of acts.
I will tell you one experience.
I had gone to My BAR in Pahar Ganj with some friends and one of the waitresses there openly told me that they DIDN'T want blacks there. Instantly I became angry, but my Nigerian friends felt we should ignore them. I have been coming to India for a long time, at least since 2006 and I know better, but that night is one that I don't think I will ever forget - it is glaringly clear that this has nothing to do with racism, but the fact that WE are blacks and could be drug-peddlers and scammers.
My African-American friend narrated her experience too. She had gone to lodge into a hotel and the receptionist also told her that they didn't need black people there. So, she had to go and make a report to the police which they handled properly.
READ THIS LINE PROPERLY: No matter how Indians want it, I shall stay in Delhi. I shall become part of this nation. I'm part of it and I'm doing this for the future generation of black people coming here. As long as Indians have integrated into other cultures, I shall do same here.
INDIANS, WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT, I'm here to stay and write and live and laugh and drink and be a HUMAN BEING!
